Fitting the frame to the subject

For this exercise, the subject I chose was a sculpture (by Lorenz Balmer) located in one of Basel’s botanical gardens at sunrise. I focused on the top part of it. First a general view:01-_S2V1824

I found the tree in the background interesting and decided to align it with the main subject.

I then came closer for a tighter frame:03-_S2V1826From this base photograph, I came very close to capture only a part:02-_S2V1825

What I found interesting was the difference in structure and colour of the two types of stone (granite and sandstone).

I then placed the subject differently to show more of the surroundings:

04-_S2V1827Emphasis on traditional buildings down the slope

05-_S2V1828Emphasis on the city far away

06-_S2V1829More of the trees

07-_S2V1830More of the city on the horizon
